In the 1560s, high quality graphite was discovered in the Borrodale mines in North Camperland, England.
The pencil was cut into long, thin strips, wrapped with string or sandwiched between two pieces of wood, and used as a writing instrument.
Pencil drawings, which are created with pencils, have a wide range of applications as long as paper and a pencil are available. The nature of pencil drawings inevitably leads to many similar works, but on the other hand, contemporary artists are searching for their own unique expression to stand out from the crowd.
In this article, I would like to introduce some of the artists who are at the forefront of pencil art woven from black and white.
