A. Enjoy authentic contemporary art

I would like to introduce three artists, Kana Kamitoko, Keisuke Tsuchida, and Miho Nishikawa. Each of these artists is a remarkable artist who thinks about painting from a unique perspective.

Kana Kamitoko

[su_quote]Born in Kagoshima in 1995, Kana Kamitoko has been exploring the Japanese aesthetic sense while using yokai as a motif. She sees one of the perfect systems of Japanese art in the use of color and composition of the ukiyoe and Edo paintings of the Meiji period, and she creates her paintings by matching the aesthetic elements originally found in Japan with contemporary sensibilities.

In the Edo period (1603-1868), yokai were a major motif for painters, but they disappeared from the Japanese art world with the westernization that accompanied the Meiji Restoration. Mr. Kamitoko looks back on the history of Japanese art and creates works that show that there were originally some excellent things in Japan. /su_quote]

Keisuke Tsuchida

[su_quote]Japan has a culture of conveying something through the depiction of characters and stories, like manga and anime. Keisuke Tsuchida's work consistently focuses on the theme of "heart", but he does not draw it directly, but tries to tell a story through a science fiction world view.

Another feature of his work is that it is drawn entirely in pencil. Using only vertical lines, he takes a long time to create each piece. Although the works may look straightforward, you can feel the traces of the physicality of the artist' s thoughts and hand movements. /su_quote]

Keisuke Tsuchida, "Bokura no Tsubasa" (Our Wings), original price (reference): 2.5 million yen

[su_label type="success" ]Print 100,000 yen (excluding tax)[/su_label].

Miho Nishikawa

[su_quote]She is an artist who has been pursuing "what can be seen and what cannot be seen. When she starts to draw, she doesn't have a clear idea of how to complete the work, but it changes while she is drawing, and is completed the moment she thinks it is finished. That is why she herself often realizes it after it is completed.

In a sense, Ms. Nishikawa's paintings of ambiguous worlds are the royal road of literature and art. She is also famous for being on the cover of Naoki Matayoshi's "Hibana". /su_quote]

B. A broad taste of contemporary art

Hironobu Naito

[su_quote]Of all the animals, it is said that only humans pray. Mr. Naito's works try to reproduce the sense of divinity and wonder that we feel when we suddenly feel it in our paintings.
The deep blue color that expresses serenity is characteristic of Naito's work, but the paint he uses is mineral pigments. He uses mineral pigments, which are produced by crushing minerals into powder, to produce matte colors that are different from oil paints. /su_quote]

Harumi Takahashi

[su_quote]Normally, sound cannot be seen with the eyes. Ms. Takahashi tries to express sound, which can only be captured by the ear, through her paintings. Sound, in other words, is a phenomenon created by the vibration of an object. She depicts the state of sound by drawing it all over the screen. /su_quote]

Harumi Takahashi, "Chameleon Panda," original painting price (reference): 650,000 yen

Cos Cos

[su_quote]One of the major genres of painting is "portraiture," in which a person's face is painted. Coscos does detailed work such as sketching a face, but then focuses on the colors of energy that appear on a person's face, rather than realistic depiction. There are colorful emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and sadness in a person's face, and his boldness in expressing them directly is one of his charms. [/su_quote].

Ayaka Tadano

[su_quote]Ms. Tadano is an artist who is interested in "how people look at art," and perhaps what is interesting about her work is that she paints landscapes that evoke memories and emotions in the viewer's mind. Her works are interesting in that she paints landscapes that evoke memories and emotions in the viewer's mind. By depicting commonplace scenery that everyone has seen somewhere before, she has the power to make the viewer confront their own memories and past. It could be said that this work focuses on the relationship between the work and the viewer. /su_quote]

Choko Beniko

[su_quote]One of the characteristics of Choko's paintings is that she tries to depict people's sudden emotions. People throw tantrums, or are happy or sad for some reason, but all of them eventually disappear. She tries to capture the "peak of emotions that disappear" in her paintings. Painting these moments has a fragile beauty, somewhat like looking at a flower that is falling. [/su_quote].

Jura Szabó

[su_quote]Szabó's paintings have a very narrative structure, depicting a scene from his conception of the world. In the Middle Ages, many paintings in Europe were based on the Bible, but he also used a common story as his subject matter, yet by not telling too much of it, there is a freedom that allows the viewer to travel through the world of the painting. /su_quote]

Mikhail Gurin

[su_quote]Born in Belarus, Mikhail Gurin is a painter as well as a sculptor, and his works are characterized by the physical depiction of the body like a sculpture. At the same time, he has a challenging attitude that updates the world of painting, which is also appealing. /su_quote]

Amador Sevilla

[su_quote]He uses a technique called collage, in which he builds up an image by attaching magazine clippings and other materials as well as paint. Although his style is based on the science fiction genre of steampunk, there is something about his work that suggests the world of the future, or poses the question to the viewer, "What do you think about the future? [/su_quote].

Printmaking - An art form that can be enjoyed by more than one person

History and Types of Prints

Printmaking is a technique that was originally invented to copy (reproduce) text written on paper.
A base, called a plate, is made, ink is applied to it, and the ink is transferred to paper or other material.
In China, prints are so familiar to mankind that there are prints as old as 1,000 years old, and in Japan, prints called ukiyoe were popular in the Edo period.

[su_spoiler title="Read more"]There are several types of prints, and they are classified according to the structure of the plate as follows.
① Letterpress: ..... This is a type in which the part of the image that is to be made into a picture or text is made to protrude. Ukiyo-e is a type of woodblock print.
② Intaglio: ..... A type of woodblock print in which the area to be painted or written on is made concave. It was often used in medieval Western art such as copperplate engraving.
③ Flat Plate Painting ..... A type of printing in which the picture is drawn on an uneven stone or metal surface and the repulsive action of water and oil is used. It is also called lithography, a technique that is now applied as offset printing.
④ Etching: ..... This is a type of printmaking in which many small holes are made on the surface of the plate. It is easy to mass produce and was used for commercial purposes in the 20th century. It is also called silkscreen. Reference: Musashino Art University website[/su_spoiler].

Commercialization and Editions of Printmaking Techniques

In the modern era, printmaking has taken on a commercial meaning of reproduction.
For example, Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa".
By creating large quantities of the Mona Lisa, which only exists in one piece, anyone can easily display Da Vinci's masterpiece in their home.

[su_spoiler title="Read more"]But the important element of art is scarcity.
In the art world, it is possible to create scarcity in prints by giving them a production limit called an "edition. In the art world, it is possible to create scarcity of prints by giving a production limit called "edition". " Edition of 20" means to guarantee that there are only 20 of this work in the world.
An editioned work will be assigned an edition number, and may be signed by the artist.
Conversely, prints without editions are called open editions to distinguish them. [/su_spoiler].

Prints are still being updated.

In addition to the four methods just mentioned, there is another method called giclee printing.
Giclee is a new type of printmaking that has emerged in recent years, where the original data is created and printed using inkjet, or machine, printing. Giclee is a new type of printmaking that has emerged in recent years, and is characterized by its ability to achieve a higher level of reproducibility.

DNP's technological innovation

[su_note note_color="#ffffff" radius="9"]The printmaking technology used in this project is "Primo Art" (high-definition printing, see below for details), which integrates DNP's printing know-how accumulated over many years. For details, see below).

In contrast, DNP uses 10 colors of ink, allowing for a wider range of expression. This allows for a wider range of expression.

The complex color schemes, strokes, and touches in contemporary art make it difficult for conventional printing to handle the fine details. This time, we will use a printing machine with 10-color ink, and also a camera with over 100 million pixels to photograph the original work. One of the charms of printmaking is that you can enjoy the image (figure) to the fullest.
[su_highlight ]This is why it is necessary to faithfully reproduce the expression of colors and the traces of the artist's brushstrokes. [/su_highlight][/su_note]
