This iconic hitogata was inspired by the symbol of a toilet. I named it "SOTAI" as a motif common to all people regardless of age, nationality, or gender. In this work, the duality of things is expressed by the contrast of colors and painted with acrylic paints. The shapes of the colors are reminiscent of building blocks, representing the fact that people are made up of a combination of various elements. By scraping off the layers of paint to reveal the underlying color, the work expresses a person's life through the accumulation of experience. Furthermore, the use of pop colors expresses vitality, while the mixed colors and brushstrokes depict feelings of being swayed by external pressures. In today's society, there are many situations in which we have to choose between "front and back," and this work was painted with an awareness of the ambiguity that lies between the two, which cannot be expressed in words.
