TRiCERA is pleased to present "Re-scope", a solo exhibition by Kosuke Kato from February 20 to 27, 2012. Kato has been creating works that refer to the structure of landscape and the ambiguity of vision itself through the keywords of decomposition and reconstruction of landscape. This time, with the concept of "someone else's point of view", he will exhibit about 12 paintings created based on images quoted from SNS.
Most of the photos uploaded on social networking sites are from "someone else's point of view", not something we have actually experienced ourselves, but with today's digital shift, we are constantly receiving a large amount of "someone else's point of view" every day. But today, with the digital shift, we are constantly receiving a large amount of "other people's perspectives. In fact, we may be looking at the landscape through the eyes of a third person much more often than we are looking at it with our own eyes.
Kato's paintings depict the brink of information transformation, where the landscape is decomposed, colors and forms collapsed. With his works and the exhibition, he aims to give us an opportunity to question the way we see things, what it means to see in our digitalized visual world, and how "seeing" has changed from the past to the present.
We hope you will enjoy the experiments and adventures of Kosuke Kato on canvas, as he explores landscape and vision.
