The motif this time is "horse". I decided on the motif of a horse because the broken cross section of the driftwood was impressive, like a standing hair. Another part of the driftwood that was utilized was the knot holes in the ears. The knot holes were located in just the right position, and I carved them into the shape of ears to make them look like ears. And the texture and three-dimensionality of the driftwood around the eyes. The gray skin area was left almost entirely as driftwood, giving it the feel of a powerful horse's cheek jaw. Also, the large hole behind the ear that led to the crack in the forehead was an interesting finish. While keeping the realistic horse in mind, I also incorporated the image of an antique wooden horse. This work is about twice as large as the previous works (1-4). The pedestal is included in the work. Size of the sculpture: 50 cm (width), 38 cm (height), 17 cm (depth) *Size of the octagonal pedestal: 22 cm (length)
