    If you could choose one period in history to live in, which period would you choose? Carson McCullers, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, 2024, 160(W)㎜×125(D)㎜×290(H)㎜, cedar, synthetic resin, vegetable oil, micro-recore This is a tabletop size work of the "Recore" series, which is created with the image of future animals. The size of this work decreases from "Recoa" to "Mini-Recoa" to "Micro-Recoa". The title of this piece is taken from a line in Carson McCullers' 1940 novel "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter". The piece is carved out of a block of very old cedar wood, and can be used as a tabletop interior or as a stand for displaying flowers and other items.

    Concept

    I am interested in the boundary between human society and nature, and use Japanese trees in my work. In my work, I use a combination of motorized tools such as chainsaws and router machines, and traditional woodworking tools such as chisels and chisels to carve out new and smooth forms that are full of life. The works are given relatively long titles, which are mainly words taken from literary works or passages from philosophical books in which the author has already died. The overlap of the age of the sculpted creature and the words of the book from which the title is taken, causes a shift to a new perspective that is not "here and now," and my work reinterprets our problems and their stories.
