    This work was created using a scarab as a motif. When stones are placed in gardens, they will weather over time. There is a culture in Japan where you can enjoy stain and moss growing. This work was made on the premise of enjoying change outdoors. This rock called honkomatsuishi is andesite from Japan, and it can be compatible with the green color of moss and trees.

    Seiwa Sato creating artwork with motif, ‘beetle’ with rock and stone. Since ancient times in Japan, there is a traditional culture of placing stones in the garden and enjoy the beauty. He tries to use the traditional culture to tell insects’ breathing.
    He aims a powerful expression by utilizing the stones’ features such as cracking, Polished gloss and material.
    He is not just trying to create the shape, but expressing the insects’ powerful life, movement and nature.
