Description

This is a ceramic wall installation consisting of 25 hand built pieces that measure 20 x 20 cm each. Made of stoneware, matte and gloss glazes and 22 kt. gold luster. Each piece has its hanging hardware and are all ready to hang on the wall.
The inspiration for this work comes from the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, through which repairs are made to ceramic pieces that have broken and the cracks are covered by gold or silver. After the repair is done, the piece comes back to life with a renewed value because it has a history shown by its golden or silver scars. It is the philosophy behind Wabi-Sabi, that finds the beauty in imperfections.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Art is emotion and it exists to make us feel.
I am a ceramic artist and a painter, and when I work is when I feel most peaceful, most free. Those feelings in turn, bring me a sense of harmony and balance, which I try to translate to each piece I make. Initially intuitive and exploratory, my work is driven by the study of shape, texture, color and line.
My inspiration comes from the dynamics of contrasts and the challenge to shape that vision in my ceramics and my paintings. In essence, I follow a path of experimentation searching for beauty, through the infinite possibilities that these two materials have to offer.

Does this art work need a frame?

In many cases, art works with a canvas stretched over a wooden frame can be displayed as is. Thin art works other than canvases are easier to frame. For any questions or concerns please chat us.

What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
