    Description

“As a full-time college student, money and time are major issues that one has to deal with and buying packages of noodles is cheap; They fill you up and are great when you are constantly on the go and have deadlines to meet”, says a typical freshman student. A typical package of Top Ramen “Oodles of Noodles” contains about 380 calories, 14 grams of fat and over 1,800 mg of sodium—over two thirds of the FDA recommended maximum amount and ten times the minimum daily amount. While the combination of ingredients is hazardous to health, it has not hindered Ramen’s growing popularity. In 2012, over 100 billion servings of ramen noodles were eaten worldwide: about 14 servings for every person on the planet!

    Concept

Maidy Morhous expresses herself through the medium of bronze which allows her to portray the extremes of the soft flow of water to the harsh asphalt pavement of our world. The artwork encompasses the pop theme of presenting commonplace objects as fine art. It is meant to engage the viewer and allow them to contemplate and pull from within, and for a moment disengage from the outside world.

Referred to as contemporary still life sculptures Morhous continually searches to portray her environment in the world today. These sculptures expose the view to and pull them in to react and question what is being viewed – be it life and one’s existence, the world’s plight or just to bring a smile. Idiomatic titles prompt metaphorical interpretations to these works with hints at multilayered meanings.

Maidy Morhous also expresses herself through the medium of acrylic and oil; whether totally abstract, or an expression of abstraction by pulling in elements of nature. Her paintings are meant to engage the viewer and allow them to contemplate and pull from within, and for a moment disengage from the outside world.

Referred to as contemporary abstraction Morhous continually searches to portray her environment in the world today. These paintings expose the view to and pull them in to react and question what is being viewed – be it life and one’s existence, or the world’s .
