  • About this KUNIYOSHI /NOZARASHI GOSUKE

    Description

Printed on a piece of concrete block is "Nosara Gosuke" from the "Shofuda Tsuke Cash Man" series by Kuniyoshi Utagawa, one of the most famous ukiyoe artists of the Edo period. The skull pattern on the kimono and geta (Japanese clogs) is one of Kuniyoshi's most famous and popular designs in the world. We are creating this work with the hope of incorporating Kuniyoshi's works into our modern life.

  • About this artist

    Concept

Using objects that would normally be discarded, such as concrete, roof tiles, iron, and lumber after the demolition of buildings, I create works that enjoy the moment when they shine brighter than before by adding a few modifications, using reggae and ukiyo-e as motifs.
