Concept

The foundation of my creative work is based on the teachings of the I Ching, "When Yin is extreme, it turns to Yang, and when Yang is extreme, it turns to Yin," and the idea of "learning from the past. In 1979, at a time when analog was the mainstream, the Apple II demo screen gave me a taste of the art of the future. The crude computer graphics of that time are etched in my memory as "light paints" that are still central to my creative process. I believe in the fusion of analog and digital, and that even as digital technology evolves, the value of analog will be reevaluated. In particular, I would like to reinterpret ornaments from the Jomon period and ancient ruins in a modern way, recreating the beauty of the past in the modern age in the spirit of "learning from the past. Currently, my focus is on creation using a 3D pen, moving from the 2D flat world to the 3D three-dimensional world, shifting from the world of monitor displays and printing to shaping my work into three-dimensional objects that can actually be held in the hand. 3D pen produces unique lines as if handwritten, expressing the geometric patterns and wavy lines of the Jomon period.
