    Description

    This duo is represented by two wall objects of the same size, made in mixed technique. The Metamorph series was inspired by decayed wood collected during the walks in the nature. The casts were intentionally made to lose their rigid geometry of wood, and as a result they are morphing into some other life form.

    The size of EACH part is 11x16x2 cm, so a composition would take 33 x 16 cm area on the wall. The objects could be also displayed lying flat on a table or shelf.

    Concept

    Lilia’s interdisciplinary approach employs various media (textured surface of uncoated phototransfer, inevitability of smells, immersive nature of video or tactile surface of sculpture) in order to slow down the viewer. This deceleration focuses on the time flow, which is shown as decay, transformation and constant but barely seen change.

    Decay viewed as transformation process describes the core of Lilia’s art. She is interested in ageing as a process, changes in memory, mutation of objects and their functions with time. These transmutations are seen by the artist as emergence of other life forms. For example, in her Metamorph series she translated decayed wood into weird biomorphic objects.

    Does this art work need a frame?

    In many cases, art works with a canvas stretched over a wooden frame can be displayed as is. Thin art works other than canvases are easier to frame. For any questions or concerns please chat us.

    What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

    • If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.
    • If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
