Every president since my birth has a game in this series. The pieces combines the text from their inaugural speech with a board game that symbolizes their presidency.
Bill Clinton presided over the longest period of peacetime economic expansion in American history; he left office in 2001 with the highest end-of-term approval rating of any U.S. president since Franklin D. Roosevelt. The most memorable moment during his presidency was his affair with Monica Lewinksy and the ensuing impeachment trial. In his second term, the news of their sexual liaison broke, the scandal escalated until Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998. The two impeachment articles passed were based upon Clinton using his powers as the president to obstruct the investigation and lying under oath. In 1999 Clinton's impeachment trial moved to the Senate, where he was acquitted on both charges because the votes against him did not reach the conviction threshold. Since his presidency, Clinton has frequently been caught with his “hands in the candy jar,” so Candyland seemed like an appropriate analogy for his presidency. The game is designed for very young children, game play is simply a matter of moving forward and collecting colored candy cards.
