With the rapid development of information technology, AI, Vtubers, and other virtual personalities of ambiguous nationality and race have become commonplace. It was as if the colorful hair-colored magical girls of Japanese anime that have been around for decades had become a reality. Ironically, the proliferation of information technology has also made discrimination based on nationality, race, gender, and sexual orientation more visible. I wanted to give form to these in a classic bust sculpture, which is what inspired me to create this work. Embedded in her head are semiconductor cards from Japan and Korea. Japan and Korea are very much at odds with each other, but for the virtualized figure, both are mere devices, and the boundaries between the countries have no meaning. Her face and hair are also closer to an anime girl than to a real person, and she does not represent any particular race or anyone. Her mouth is covered in an archaic smile. The artist aims to create a tranquil expression like Greek sculptures or Buddhist statues. On the other hand, the right side with scattered glass balls was created with the image of runaway technology and human emotions that cannot be suppressed by technology. This work is a combination of opposites, such as virtualization and discrimination, serenity and violence, in the form of a classical bust in a single sculpture.
