Codependency can have a detrimental impact on both individuals and relationships. For the codependent person, it often results in emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and a constant feeling of being unfulfilled. They may become enmeshed in their partner's problems and emotions, losing their sense of self in the process. In turn, the relationships themselves become unhealthy and imbalanced, leading to resentment, communication breakdowns, and potential perpetuation of harmful behaviors.
