This photo is part of a series, it was taken in July 2020 on the little island of Poveglia (Venice) where the ruins of what was a home for the elderly remain, built in 1922 and closed in 1968. Since then the building and the island have been abandoned. Over time, some legends around the island grew, such as that the home for the elderly was, in reality, a madhouse or that there is the presence of spirits of the dead on the island when it was used as a lazaret in the 18th and 19th centuries.
