    Being out in Nature has always calmed and soothed artist and visual provocateur Fraser Lawson’s mind, and he wanted to find a way to re-connect people with something that is not only often overlooked and taken for granted, but is now threatened in a very immediate way. By mirroring certain photographs he’d taken he discovered it created a symmetrical image within which our brains are wired to find something familiar.749 By giving natural objects a personality, things that we see day to day may, perhaps warrant a second look.

    Lawson's abstract photographs of nature ('Distracturals') invite us to take a fresh look at the 'familiar'. Mirrored images of flowers and landscapes become the faces of mystical creatures staring back at you. Rorschach-like, depending on your state of mind, these beguiling forms can be interpreted as friendly or monstrous.

    What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

    • If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.
    • If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.
    • If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
