When color photography was not yet invented, coloring was simply used to give photos the desired
colourfulness.
By coloring, also manually influencing a photograph, I worked out the character of a scene, giving
the details more structure and attention. Coloring with the hand allows me to intervene in the
situation, interpret it or create illusions. I use different techniques, water colors, protein glazes and
image processing programs. Each picture has been processed in an elaborate process to bring it to
life in new colors.
The following works were created through the color processing of a black and white photo, these
have been created both analog and digital since 2016.
The Semperoper in Dresden is the opera house of the Saxon State Opera Dresden, which has a long historical tradition as the court and state opera of Saxony. The Semperoper is located on Theaterplatz in the historic city center of Dresden near the Elbe. It is named after its architect Gottfried Semper.
