    Description

The Cyanotype, an ancestral, azure photograph dating from 1842

The cyanotype for me is like a return to the roots in every sense of the word. A return to the time when the image was subject to randomness, probability, almost randomness. An image is revealed by the light, it is as if tamed, coaxed, desired and time and patience are its stimulus. An image is made and seen as a journey, a journey between the lines, in an atmosphere, in the interstices of movement. The cyanotype allows me to live the time of the construction of an image, a time necessarily slow, necessarily uncertain

    Concept

I take pictures to keep a trace of the wonder I find in what surrounds me. I need to feel this wonder in everything, in the detail, in the rhythm, in the time, in the movement. Photography allows me to capture moments where the balance between the elements and the light touches me and opens a door towards the interior, towards the intimate rhythm of things and beings.

In my studio I rework the photograph to accentuate the access to this intimate rhythm that I feel. I look for the accuracy of the gestures, the movement. I cut. I detour. I move. I remake. I add elements from other photos, in short I rework it with my computer and Photoshop until I get a mental image that has the right rhythm, the right tones, the right atmosphere, the right balance with all the necessary subjectivity.

When looking at my images, the viewer can be a little disoriented in his approach to the whole. There are objects that make up the image that sometimes seem incongruous, surprising, not necessarily in their place. This creates a phase shift and gives him an unexpected angle. It's an impression that makes my photos come alive from the inside in his eyes.
