A black "Carpenter Bee" is... having dinner on a cornflower.
Among all the varieties of bee species, there are individual species that differ from their counterparts not only in appearance, but also in behavior and habitat. One of these species is the carpenter bee, it doesn't produce honey and it is considered a true fossil, as it existed many centuries ago.
In summer it can be found in fields with sunflowers, lupins, ornamental flowers and others. The nectar is collected early in the morning and in the evening at sunset. Xylocopa or carpenter is an exceptional pollinator, so it is a very usefull bee.
