The candle represents the soul while the flame symbolizes the prayer we address to God, the Universe, or any other entity. In addition to the power of fire, the candle also contains the other elements of the cosmos: water, symbolized by melting wax, earth symbolized by wax, air symbolized by smoke.
Unknown 8 is part of my Psychological Flame series where I explore the idea of a candle flame as an abstract form of a bond between us and an entity. The flame becomes abstract in our imagination and our feelings. The images are all derived from photos of lit candles taken by me.
Use a soft music and look at the artwork then close your eyes. The colours and the flame will mix in your mind creating a unique connection.
