This work I made as I lived in a small town surrounded by hills named Lörrach. It was a time of the search for my personal way in this life, mountain hiking, deep talks with friends and strangers and spontaneous photo shootings. During one of such shootings emerged a portrait of Carla used in this collage.
The playful manner of putting parts together in this collage involves arranging and layering the materials to create a sense of movement, depth, and texture. The result is visually stimulating, inviting viewers to explore and discover new details with each viewing. Collage allows me the creation of space for meanings that give viewers more than just a sum of the original meanings of the constituent parts, making it a powerful means of personal expression.
