Autumn traditionally motivates any artist to create new works. But usually these are landscapes with golden-yellow foliage and a clear autumn sky. Living in Bulgaria, I always admire the abundance of color in nature. And now, when I came to visit friends, I saw bunches of grapes of an unusual oval shape and rare color. I don’t even know the name of this variety, but the fact that it is unusual is quite obvious. After all, the most common grapes here are black. Of course, there are also retro varieties of a brown shade or light - for white wine. This one turned out to be dark burgundy, turning into dark purple.
Of course, I immediately wanted to paint this autumn abundance. But one bunch of grapes, although large and unusual, does not create enough play on paper or canvas. So I complemented this bunch with a contrasting yellow-orange pumpkin from our garden and picked up a few fallen peaches and an apple. And yet, this was not quite enough.
As always, a black glass bottle came to the rescue, into which, to increase the height of the dominant, I inserted a couple of flowers from the hibiscus bush framing the entrance to our yard. This is how this reflection of early autumn came about: a bunch of grapes, an apple, peaches and hibiscus flowers in a black wine bottle.
