Spring in Bulgaria in 2024 was early. At the end of March it had already become hot, tall grass and the first spring flowers had grown.
No, not snowdrops - they appeared a month earlier. Daffodils, followed by tulips. In order not to lose the charm of white, yellow and red on bright greenery, I had to place a bouquet made up of 4 varieties of daffodils and scarlet tulips on a table on the lawn among the lush grass.
The watercolor was done directly outdoors on a sunny day with the inherent midday contrast and shadows. Despite the bright sun shining on the sheet of watercolor paper, the color saturation reached its maximum. Scarlet tulips, with their dominance, balance the mass of greenery around. The creamy, yellow tones of the daffodils are contrasted with the dense shadows and delicate violet of the two hyacinths still remaining in the flower garden. Bright sunny tones and colors look quite fresh and create the impression of a light spring breeze, shaking large flower heads while drawing. The size and format are well suited for a standard-sized living room (16-20 sq.m.).
