Description

I went to Matsumoto almost 10 years ago and just by the accident, without any research before the trip, stumbled across the unique old bookshop that is a small copy of the castle Matsumoto.
Years went by and the memories of that trip became hazy.
But one day I’ve found the photos from that place and decided to revive those moments. The old bookshop remained in the past, there is a souvenir shop in that house now.
I wanted this distant moment from to feel full of live, volume and emotions.
There is always a story behind the painting and this story is cosy, warm and deep.

Concept

I find subjects for my art in my everyday life in Japan and during trips, I’m hugely inspired by architecture, nature and culture of this beautiful country.
Painting is not only an image but a story, so the viewer could look into it and feel the wind in sakura branches, touch the wood of an old house that stayed there for the centuries, dive into calm and modest atmosphere of the old Japanese shop or restaurant.
 I paint only what I've seen in real life, en plein air or in my studio from photos that I take during walks and trips. Though I don’t limit myself with media but found watercolor with its transparency and lightness to be the most challenging and suitable for me at the moment.

What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.

If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.

If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
