The idea for this work came to me while I was working on the figure croquis and moving. The movement of the human body was particularly impressive and reminded me of Duchamp's work in the past. Just as Duchamp used Muybridge's series of photographs as a motif, I used the series of photographs as a motif for my own work, and explored other means of expression, such as using Japanese mineral pigments. I combined my usual style of painting, which emphasizes improvisation, coincidence, and physical movement, to create a new image of a nude woman.
