    Description

I have vacationed many times in a small mountain town an hour and a half from my home in California. Big Bear is full of blue birds. I enjoyed watching them in the pine trees at the cabin. They are my most favorite bird color.

My painting style is bold and bright with many layers of transparent colors. My painting process is fun and imaginative, a break from realism. My style of painting in watercolor is a combination of Representational/Impressionism.

I am very careful with the grade of paper I use so that I can maintain the surface while I play with subtle color washes. I build the color up, preciously keeping my paper canvas showing through in the areas that call for white, so that I don't have to use any white. I am a purist and love the transparency of layering watercolors. I use opaque colors minimally.

I use reference photos for ideas. Then I create my scenes by composing what I think will be dynamic. You would not recognize my painting from any of the references. This is one part of my creative process that is highly regarded by my mentors and clients.

I used high quality, cold pressed, watercolor paper that is so much fun to blend colors on and adds texture. I used thick paint making the watercolor consistency thicker than ink. I tear the paper if it does not already have a deckle edge. I frame it on top of the mat-board, called float mounting, to show off the papery edge effect. It "pops" the colors in the painting, and is lovely on black. Then I frame it in a modern black frame.

    United States of America

    Concept

Jeanette Jensen B.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) also known on social media as Jeanette Designs is a cross between a representational and impressionist artist in the United States. At a recent gallery show, where Jeanette received both a First and Second Place Ribbon, her mentor, a traditionally trained Russian artist and college professor commented, "Jeanette is a really good artist!"

Jeanette creates cozy, joyful experiences in several mediums. Her theme is to inspire and nurture enthusiasm for life. Her watercolors capture bright portrayals of nature. The bold colors she uses are her signature style.

The artist works from her home studio as an artist and author of novels, Professor Golden Mysteries. She is a member of several prestigious art leagues. Jeanette layers her paint whether it is the delicate watercolor or hearty, luscious oils.

As an eight-grade student Jeanette's mother sponsored her art lessons with a professional oil painter. She continued her art education in college and there became a proficient water-colorist. She received her first acclaim from an international watercolor jurist who remarked, "Outstanding color and gem like quality, a real treasure," when she perused Jeanette's work. Another art teacher of 30 years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania remarked, "These are beautiful works of art, subject, design and the colors are stunning," when looking at her art on Instagram.

Jewish Voice Ministry International has a large painting of Jeanette's hanging as the centerpiece in their lobby. They also make greeting cards from her painting.
