In this work in particular you can discover an orange silhouette which is formed by several framed artworks that are hanging on the wall. At the same time it can be seen as a figure that is outside / behind the room, also because of the clouds on the blue background that create a possible sky. On the floor are empty frames waiting to be filled. A scarlet red life line twirls around in the room.
This work is part of the series 'Imaginary Rooms' that I started in november 2005, in response of a Surrealistic painting in the style of Giorgio De Chirico, that I saw hanging on the wall when I visited a friend. It will be the first time that I use visually recognisable elements in my artwork trying to set up a kind of communication with the viewer.
Working Method: 'écriture automatique' (Automatic Drawing) I draw immediately with Indian ink on a blank sheet of paper without sketch in pencil. I have no idea what I'm going to create on forehand. That's exactly the state of mind I want or 'need' to create.
