I am Ukrainian and was forced to leave my home. After a year of living between various countries, I decided to return home even though the war was not over.
The year 2022 was the hardest year of my life, just like for most of Ukrainians. There was a lot of pain and internal work to be able to continue living and making art.
Often my mind was going into a dark place, and I became very interested in exploring the depth of the black color. That's how I started working on this watercolor collection of lotus paintings. Somehow painting those dark waters and pure white lotus flowers was pleasant and relieved me of stress. Maybe it was my search for tranquility and inner strength.
