This is a watercolor painting of a Kimiko orchid that was blooming in a pot. The bright orange blossoms on both sides looked as if they were trumpeting, so I painted them in a slightly design-like manner.
I painted the lower part of the picture after seeing the actual flowers, but I wanted to include a design element in this picture, so I finished it that way.
In this series of watercolor flowers, I consistently feel the yellow, gold, and yellow-green colors emanating from the flowers.
