    Description

A pastel painting featuring two bulbous glass vases positioned centrally. One vase is empty, while the other is filled with bluish shimmering water, casting intricate reflections across its surface. A white flower and a red flower emerge gracefully from the front vase, their delicate forms contrasting with the sturdy glass. On the left, a kumquat adds a warm, vibrant accent, while a small orange on the right balances the composition. The objects rest on a soft blue-green surface, surrounded by a dark, nearly black background that enhances the luminosity of the scene.

The painting explores the contrast between fullness and emptiness, warmth and coolness, light and shadow. The reflective surfaces of the glass and water symbolize moments of clarity and distortion, while the flowers suggest the coexistence of purity and passion. The kumquat and orange anchor the scene, adding a sense of life and natural simplicity. Together, the elements form a meditative balance, inviting reflection on harmony in diversity.

    Soft pastels on Pastelmat.
Shipping via DHL, packed in a transparent sleeve between two layers of lightweight foam board and in a cardboard box. Instructions for proper framing included.

    Concept

From the very beginning of my artistic activity, I was always committed to realism. Abstraction or complete non-objectivity were never an option for me.
In my early years I had an inclination towards the fantastic realism of the Vienna School, which I gave up after a while. Reality was and is always fantastic enough for me.
In the 1990s I turned to photorealism. A photo represents a certain type of reality that fascinates me. A photograph comes no closer to reality than any other form of pictorial representation; it is always as subjective as the gaze of the person looking through the viewfinder.
But photography contains information in the density that I need for my painting.

Art is a process that initially penetrates from the outside to the inside, is filtered and processed by the brain and radiates back to the viewer via the work of art.
The viewer does not necessarily have to have the same mental experience as the artist, since the same process of perception takes place in the viewer from the outside in with the filtering through the brain and the experiences they have had up to that point. Each viewer may come to a different conclusion regarding the work being viewed.
