    Description

    Golden Decay is part of Esposito's developing Canvas Sculpture collection and is an original piece of art inspired by nature and organic decay. The real Poppies in this work (both whole & broken) are symbolic of life & the ephemeral nature of physicality. Parts of the canvas have been cut away and sewn in to in line with the artist’s unusual manipulation of the 2D canvas. Unexpected materials have been used such as pressed poppies, resin and emulsion, alongside spray paint, gold leaf, pastel and graphite. Parts of the painting are cut and sewn in to.

    Concept

    Esposito is a contemporary British Artist from Brighton. Her works are modern and evocative; often paintings, sometimes fashion, and other times sculpture or wall art. She paints, sculpts and manipulates the surface of her canvasses using not only brushes but screws, credit cards and other interesting implements. Her more recent works are cut in to and sewn, and cleverly unite traditional and unexpected media by combining oils, acrylics and inks with materials such as alcohol, feather, thread, flowers, spray paint, gauze, collage and coffee. The work is unique and wide ranging and touches upon themes such as human connection, identity, femininity, the natural world, health, politics, spirituality, and the urban environment.

    In many cases, art works with a canvas stretched over a wooden frame can be displayed as is. Thin art works other than canvases are easier to frame. For any questions or concerns please chat us.

    What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

    • If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.
    • If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.
    • If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
