I am painting an imaginary garden. It is always night, the wind is calm, and the vegetation is lush. No one knows where the garden is, and no one is allowed to enter it. When I was a child, I buried my cat in the garden. After a while, I suddenly wanted to see him, so I dug him up. The cat had turned into white bones. The red roots of an orchid growing nearby were tangled in the cat's bones like blood vessels. I thought the cat had been eaten by the orchid. The scene was so horrifying and so beautiful. Since that experience, plants for me have been both healing and strongly suggestive of death. Plants are also depicted in this work. Fresh green leaves, intense red, fleshy white petals. The flowers represent "life" and "death," which will surely come sooner or later. The two hands are my own. I faithfully depicted the actual ornaments I wear and the wrinkles on my hands. The hands are not perfectly formed, but are up to the wrists. I still don't know why, but I find it more beautiful to draw hands in an imperfect form. I think it is similar to how I find the broken statues of Greek sculptures beautiful. Technique] Oil on canvas. After the canvas is stretched, several layers of primer are applied to create a smooth surface. After that, several more layers of transparent green were added to create a dark background. The black background is not black, but appears black due to the layers of dark green. When painting plants and hands, he creates colors by layering opaque and transparent colors. As these processes are repeated, the paint becomes a material and acquires sparkling and beautiful colors like jewels.
