In this painting I want to show the beauty of the night, and how it evokes a sense of wonder and connection to the universe. The soft shades of grey and pale blue with a silvery shimmer adds a mysterious quality. I am also exploring the themes of memory and the power of nature to inspire and uplift. It reflects the romanticism of a moonlit walk, with its emphasis on emotion and the beauty of nature.

Concept

Art can establish a direct line of communication between the artist's inner vision and the viewer's imagination and elicit a specific emotional response. Thus Wietzie paints the world as she sees it - imperfect and constantly changing and she aims to take the viewer with her on her journey. Her work is part of the French lyrical abstract art movement, represented by emotive, expressive and imaginary compositions that emphasize colour and form. Wietzie’s paintings are distillations of the countryside around her home in Provence, France.
She creates her works using a unique technique of fast applied pinpoints of oil paint that creates a textured, layered surface full of impasto marks. Then she uses dynamic knife strokes to apply oil paint in an impasto spontaneous way that depicts the fleeting nature of light and the passage of time.
