The painting is painted on cotton canvas with a density of 300 g/sq.m. Subframe made of softwood. Acrylic primer, factory made. The ends are primed, but not painted. The painting has no frame or hangers. Hangers can be easily installed upon request.
The color scheme is dominated by dark and cold tones of various shades of the blue spectrum, which are characteristic of thunderclouds and water. Warm shades of the glow and its reflection in the water create a feeling of the sun. The general feeling of anxiety and anticipation of a storm and, at the same time, the viewer’s security creates tension, so characteristic of thunderstorm landscapes. A palette knife was actively used for applying paint, especially at the first stage (underpainting). Further elaboration of details and generalization was carried out with a brush (glaze). The painting was created from my own photograph.
The density and color contrasts of the clouds and the clear blue sky forced the use of oil, since only oil can gain such a powerful tone and at the same time preserve the color. For the blue range the following paints were used: dark indigo, medium cobalt blue, dark and light ultramarine, as well as cereleum.
