The island and its majestic trees are mirrored perfectly in the still water below, creating a mesmerizing symmetry. Above, the night sky is a canvas of twinkling stars, with the Milky Way cascading vertically through the center, a luminous river of starlight.
To create this piece, I began with a dark underpainting to establish the deep tones of the night. I then layered thin glazes of oil paint to build up the subtle gradations of color and light in the sky and water. The island and its reflection were painted with more opaque strokes, using a variety of greens and browns to capture the lushness of the pine foliage. The Milky Way, a focal point of the painting, was rendered with a delicate touch, using varying shades of white and blue to capture its ethereal glow.
