  • About this Thinking Dialectics

    Description

This was originally inspired by a frame from Luis Buñuel's Simon in the Desert, where the image of a dragon is superimposed on the face and body of Mary Magdalene covered with sheep. Explore the similar nature of all spirituality and worship. The painting is composed of oil paints and one pigment, and is divided into two layers. The bottom layer is oil paints depicting Mary Magdalene smearing a sheep and Simon hiding on a pillar to meditate. The upper layer is made of silver paint for perspective. The image of a dragon and the collision between oil paint and water-based paint make the picture more transparent and visually rich in layers and space.

    Concept

Tannin's early works mainly use totem patterns on clothing fabrics, "one frame" images in movies, and the combination of architecture or the environment in which he lives. Through his own and others' observation of himself, he projects his relationship with the world. In recent years, his creations mainly combine architecture and totem images in architecture, one frame of images in movies and images in real landscapes, observing and thinking about social issues in the world, and thinking about human survival and situation issues such as war and immigration.
