It is an exploration of the character of an Angel, who is not only soft and light, but can also be decisive, heavy and severe. Heavy distinct strokes add the stone-like quality to the Angel depicted, it could almost be a sculpture. Another level of contrast comes from the use of light colours which again stands in opposition to the overall seriousness, maybe decisiveness of the character.
My interest for this character comes from the endless horizon to explore this ancient symbol of a half-bird, half-human. A creature partially related to the sky, partially to the Earth. It is a symbol that shows humans’ desire to be closer to the world of intangible, to eternity.
