Description

Stones occupy a special theme in my art. Their geography is very vast: Crimea, the Caucasus, Italy, Spain, Israel... The process of creating paintings is very labor-intensive. I spend a long time selecting stones by size, color, texture. I carefully lay them out on the surface, most often it is the floor in my studio. Then starts a long process of painting with numerous glazes.

The stone serves as an object of contemplation and reflection. It seems to be losing its material nature. Stone transfers spectaculators from the sphere of everyday life to the sphere of being.

Concept

Who among us has not admired pebbles on the seashore? I see in them a "Milky way" - a path not only in Space, but also in Time, to the history of Earth creation. Scattered pebbles polished by nature - are the small fragments of once majestic mountain massifs, that became for me microscopic images of the macrocosm.

Contemplating a sea pebble you can feel the processes of creation of the Earth's solid.

Hence their magical appeal: millions of years feel comfortable in your hand, hiding in the incomprehensible darkness of history.
