I have only two paintings in the series based on Claude Monet’s works. I decided to paint this painting in order to comprehend how the great master, who transformed the direction of art, reached to the point where painting could express feelings and sensations, and not seek only to transmit a natural image.
As I had devoted many years to academic studies and the process of painting for me was a routine, one could say it was my main job, so I decided to express my feelings about Claude Monet’s paintings in my own manner.
However, in this work, I employed a painting technique using a palette knife that differed greatly from the author’s original technique. Finally, I came up with an image of a cathedral that was rather disappearing, as if it were dissolving in the air. I wanted to convey a sense of lightness and freshness, and to fill the canvas with the vibrancy of the paint strokes by adding texture.
