The woman as a “Night” symbol. The yellow circle is a moon and pearls on the woman’s neck symbolize the stars. It was pearls that personified the power of the waters, cosmic life, the feminine. A model for the portrait was a cousin of my friends back home in Odessa. She is depicted in a sitting position in a half-bent pose with the crossed hands.
To the right of the figure of a woman is a yellow primrose flower or moon flower. A plant that lives under the moon can bewitch, surprise, catch a curious look on itself, holding it for a long time.
Indeed, when you peer into the inflorescence of evening primrose, time loses its significance, visits a comprehensive sense of eternity and unsurpassed beauty.
On the painting on a left corner you can see a sleeping bat. Traditionally, Bat symbolises two qualities – long life and happiness for the Chinese, and in some cultures, darkness and chaos. Bat is often regarded as a symbol of death and rebirth.
