Dancing Bacchante. Act №2 (diptych)
1993
oil, canvas.
This is my first attempt to rethink ancient mythology by using modern ideas of post-conceptualism. I used bright, dense colors, but the figure seems transparent, like a spirit dancing in the night. This work reflects my interaction with the muse, which also, invisible to the human eyes, but it guides and supports me. I was inspired by my favorite work of ancient sculptors – «Maenada» by Skopos. The name is also symbolic, the act is a kind of action, the process of communication between the creator and his creation.
