Description

Refrigerated cargo ship TURRIALBA in Southampton Trafalgar Dry Dock, circa 1970.
Built 1960 by Bremer Vulcan for Surrey Shg, 1965 transferred to Balboa Shg. Sent for scrapping in 1980.
Trafalgar Dry Dock was built in 1905 and opened on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Later expanded, it was once the largest dry dock in the world. It was later used by Harland & Wolff. It was last used for ship repair in the 1980s, but has since been filled up.
