    Description

Often, I am captured by emotions and there is no time to prescribe the details in the picture. Beauty is so fleeting. I think I managed to convey the state of peace from the contemplation of the moon path and the amazing soft reflections of the old fort lighthouse in the waters of the Salem harbor.
Winter Island, now connected to the mainland at Salem, has a colorful history. It was Pickering Fort of the eighteenth century, much of which still stands today.
Light Winter Island, also known as Light Fort Pickering, was built next to the former Fort Pickering in Winter Island Park in 1871—the same year as Light Derby Wharf in Salem Harbor and Light Hospital Point in nearby Beverly. Many years ago, the twin lights of Baker Island served as the only guides to the harbor. In the early 1980s, a group of concerned citizens and businesses formed the Fort Pickering Light Association. The lighthouse was repaired and in 1983 Fort Pickering Light was re-lit as a private aid to navigation. In 1999, the lighthouse underwent a facelift thanks to a community development grant.
The picture is painted in the author's technique with a palette knife in the style of impressionism, and I would say with elements of expressionism.
