Paint free-form shapes on canvas. I paint over and over again, for days on end, layer by layer. I paint until my heart finds something. The shape becomes the shape of my heart, and the ground becomes the world that surrounds it. This is where the exchange between the form of my heart and its world begins. The world is sometimes kind and sometimes harsh, but so is the form of my heart, and the exchange continues with far more emotion than when it was just figure and ground. Until it becomes my own place.
This work is also inspired by the blinds on the windows of people whose behavior was restricted by the Corona disaster, as a way of being, inside and outside, here and there, open and closed, and so on.
