The painting depicts the ancient city of Siedra, which was founded in the 7th century BC. and continued to exist until the 13th century. Then the population of Siedra reached 4500 people. Later, the city fell into decay.
The ruins of the ancient city of Siedra are surrounded by city walls and monumental rocks. Among the most important buildings that have been preserved are the impressive baths, a gymnasium, a colonnaded street, five water cisterns, an ancient temple, a Byzantine church and an olive oil workshop. Unfortunately, almost nothing remains of the ancient theater. However, ruins of houses and workshops from the Roman period are still visible.
