Correlation IV, 2014, Ink, oil, alkyd on hemp, cotton-hemp canvas, 171.1 x 190 x 5.9 cm (67.4 x 74.8 x 2.3 in)
This work combines two supports.
The left side is made of cotton hemp, and the right side is made of alkyd on hemp (back side of canvas).
By painting on these two different fabric supports by myself, I give completion to the work and it becomes one piece.
He added, "By leaving the fabric of the support, the sense of materiality with the painted areas becomes stronger, as if I have made a collage.
The main theme of the work is that the support, which is the "reality," is contrasted with the depth (illusion) of the painting, which is the "emptiness," and that the two move back and forth between each other's realms.
