The picture is made of three parts that are folded into one. Each part is 140x160 cm.
The stork appears as the image of a man who was personified in the Ukrainian apocrypha by the ancient Greek counterpart of Pandora. A man, according to God's election or calling, had to fulfill his mission. But eternal human curiosity and incredulity turned his life into an eternal test. According to the legend, after not throwing away the sack with the enslaved evil spirits, but looking inside, the man released evil and various vile things on the ground. Since then, he is doomed to collect it everywhere, turned into a bird.
My totem is humanity and eternal human values. Perhaps that is why the stork is associated with the image of nationalism and Ukrainianness. This is a bird that lives next to people, a bird that seems to reflect us and our society, our essential nature and inner structure.
My Stork is the image of a restless soul that yearns for heaven but is tied to the earth.
