“Lonely Freedom”
How much does each one of us cherish freedom, either in the external world or internally and spiritually?
Many people associate being at sea with freedom, that the wind may take you whichever direction you choose.
However, with this freedom comes a certain loneliness and solitude where you are present yet detached from contact and land.
In some respects this solitude has made it’s way into the daily lives of those who have not left to go to sea, yet are found living in solitude and loneliness in their own home.
As society adapts and reconfigures what were previously societal norms, are we ready to make the choice of solitude or accept the new normal with its associated social rules?
These are the thoughts which manifest for me personally when I view this work, in a way the thought of the sea and the contrast of both freedom and loneliness were my inspiration.
