This story began at the end of the summer. By pure chance, I discovered an incredible place next to the town of Bílina, where I have lived for 13 years. A large gate with winding paths and low stone walls was found in the foothills of Bořen Mountain in an overgrown forest.
Then I learned that in the first half of the 20th century, Franc Kotrba founded the Botanical Garden. Unfortunately, during World War II, the garden was closed and eventually overgrown and gradually disappeared.
This magical place fascinated me so much that together with other local citizens we founded an association for the restoration and preservation of monuments in Bílina and its surroundings. So far, we have cleaned and made the access roads visible, but we still have a lot of work to do.
I hope that in the near future our association will be able to reconstruct the garden to a state where it will be possible to attract tourists not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad.
